Save a Dropout is an initiative started by Siddhant Sanghi. It is all about inspiring people around the globe to step forward and take responsibility that no child drops out of the school.
Education is the foundation of our lives. In today’s modern world, a person without education is lame. Although, today there are schools even in the remote areas, there are no students who attend their classes on regular basis. The rate of absenteeism is high in schools which eventually lead to dropping out of students permanently.
There are several factors which are responsible for increased rate of dropouts. However, these factors are neglected and no action is taken to stop children from dropping out from schools. This initiative aims at bringing NGOs and families together to take responsibility of children that are at risk of dropping out from school. Not only families but also individuals and other organisation can also be part of this initiative to get connected with NGOs and make sure that the concerned children continue schooling. If every individual makes an effort to save a dropout, it will surely help to build the nation into a superpower. So, come, be part of this initiative, be the change, spread literacy and build the nation. Click on the following link to register:
According to the reports published in 2016 by UNESCO Institute for Statistics and Global Education Monitoring about 47 million youth dropped out of the school by 10th grade.
The percentage of students who took admissions for the 10th grade was 77% but the percentage of students who took admission for 11th grade was just 52% in the subsequent year as per the report published by Institute for Policy Research Studies (PRS) – New Delhi.
Although, there is an overall increase in gross enrolment ratio and along with improved access to each level of education, six million children belonging to the age group of 6 to 13 years are dropped out of school as per the survey conducted by ministry of Human Resource Development in the year 2014.
Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan are the top 3 states having the maximum number of school dropouts. The number dropouts in Uttar Pradesh are 1.6 million. Such states also include states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. These states constitute 46% of the entire population of children of age 11 to 16 years who are dropouts. According to the Census report, it comprises over 51 million children.
Not only the rate of dropouts is high, but also children do not attend school on regular basis. So, one of the reasons behind children dropping out from schools could be lack of interest in attending school.
